Text message received by Boston Globe sports reporter Eric Wilbur from friend in Colorado: “You have the guy from Creed sing ‘God Bless America’ you deserve to be swept.”

I thought no one could be worse than that guy the Yankees have, but then the Creed guy proved me wrong. Now, Donna Summer, on the other hand, I thought did perfectly well. I'm not really a huge fan of the song itself, but she was dignified and didn't try to get all weird about it.
(Steven Tyler, though, with the national anthem? Bleargh. It was almost OK until the very end, when he clearly thought "Hey, I'm Steven Tyler! I must make an Aerosmith noise!")

When they cut to Steven Tyler in the stands later in the game, my dad looked up and shrieked: "Aah! He looks like a dead woman!"
