I was so so so hoping you had written something on this already.

We counted four 9/11 references, three gratuitous shots of a Small Child of Color and one Tom Brady.

Then our head spun around and we threw up and really wished it was tomorrow night so we could watch Jon Stewart tear it all apart. It will be OK. We just need Jon. Jon?

I think I derived more entertainment from the audience than from Bush himself. The eye-rolling, red-faced, non-applauding indignity of the entire democratic side was beautiful to behold.

And man, EV, you missed out on the drinking game... He busted out "weapons of mass destruction," "sanctity of marriage" and "nookyoolar" enough times to get everybody royally sauced.

i will long savor ted kennedy's open scoff and rolled eyes. god bless that elephant-headed man.

(btw -- what the hell was he doing on that other shot? playing with his waddle?)

I'm an asshole and turned off the TV in woozy malaise before finding out that Jon Stewart was taking over (if only he could *really* take over).

I would play with Ted Kennedy's waddle if I could. I was actually in a room with him once, while he gave the Dem. response to the President's weekly radio address, and he really is as intelligent and genuinely passionate about the issues as you'd think. He couldn't shut up about the con-game of No Child Left Behind, even when he was off air.
