Brief Addenda

1) Find the back of Girl-E's head in this picture from today's Boston Globe.

2) Our favorite quote from an opponent of gay marriage: "Guys are going to be walking down the street, holding hands and kissing, and babies' eyes are all around. You need to look out for the children." -Shadisa Casellas, 22

God, can you imagine gay couples showing their affection in public? How could the Supreme Judicial Court allow that to happen? Shouldn't the people take a vote on that or something?

I'm more concerned about having the babies' eyes be everywhere. That doesn't seem particularly sanitary to me.

I'm with Kat. Toward the lower right-hand corner, right?

One of the reasons (besides the obvious) that the gay marriage amendment debate makes me froth with rage is that the arguments for "one man one woman" are so completely stupid. I mean, it's not just that we're right. It's that those in the wrong don't even have to form a coherent stance - they just have to throw around a bunch of unfounded and irrelevant fears and a couple (TOTALLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL. DID I MENTION?!?) religious platitudes. What. The. Fuck. America? Are you really going to buy this crap?

I have to acknowledge that some of the legislators made some of THE most eloquent and amazing speeches yesterday supporting gay marriage and stomping on the one man-one woman bullshit. Some of them were even married, white, suburban, religious men. I've always had a bit of a weird soft-spot for politicians, but this really convinced me that some of them really do their job extremely well.
